Holding a Ph.D. in Psychology with an emphasis on Cognition and Instruction, Dr. Camea has over 20 years of experience working in settings such as community-based outpatient child and adult mental health, inpatient psychiatric units, schools, and trauma recovery programs. Dr Camea is also a Senior Faculty Member at Arizona Trauma Institute where she designs and delivers training to professionals all over the world. More recently she designed a full healing curriculum for individuals with complex trauma as the Director of Ruth Place, AZ.
Her passion is to help individuals regain control over their brains and body and build healthier relationships. She specializes in personalized, body-based interventions that address anger, anxiety, and disassociation at the root—dysregulation. Her Yin-Yang approach focuses on restoring balance in both the mind and body, ensuring long-term stability and success!
After completing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at ASU, Dr. Camea spent over a decade studying and working abroad, earning an MSc in Psychoanalytic Development Psychology from the Anna Freud Center/University College London. Her research on Sensory Integration Therapy and Tactile and Vestibular Processing Disorder and Doctoral Research on Interoceptive Awareness have deepened her expertise in how the nervous system impacts physiological and emotional regulation.
She trained under industry pioneers in attachment and emotional development, including Dr. Peter Fonagy and Mary Target, and later with trauma specialists including Bessel van der Kolk at the Institute for Arts and Therapy in Education, London. This as well as additional somatic, embodiment and neuroscience training have equipped her with cutting-edge tools to help individuals manage dysregulation effectively and sustainably.
